The FTIR/FT-Raman/FTIR microscope uses an interferometer to rapidly generate infrared or Raman spectra that can be used to identify organic (and some inorganic) materials. This versatile combination of instruments has a resolution of up to 0.1 cm-1. As currently configured it will cover mid-IR (400-4000 cm-1) as well as most of the NIR (11,700-2,000 cm-1) with a laser wavelength of 1080nm. Stages include transmission, attenuated total reflectance, variable angle reflectance, and diffuse reflection. The 100 µm2 minimum spot size of the Continµum Microscope enables detailed analysis of composite materials mixed on this scale. This FTIR can be used to identify surface and bulk composition of many materials, including gases, liquids, solids, fibers, and thin films.
