Announcement and Call for Poster Abstract Submissions & Image Competition

We invite undergraduate students, graduate students, postdoctorial fellows and faculty to attend, learn, showcase, and promote research supported by our facility centers NRF, PAIC, MAIC and NFMC.

Posters and images must contain research efforts supported by RSC instrumentation and facilities for materials characterization and fabrication.

Poster proposals consist of a research summary and the data, or images, planned to be displayed in the poster.

Poster Abstract Submission Deadline:
Monday, October 3 (midnight).

Image Submission Deadline:
Friday, October 5 (midnight).

Research Posters Call for Submissions

Posters should contain research enabled through processes, images and/or data obtained using RSC instrumentation and facilities for characterization and fabrication.

Poster proposals consist of a research summary and the data, or images, planned to be displayed in the poster.

Deadline for submission of poster proposals:
Monday, October 9th.

Poster proposal approval notification:
Friday, October 13th.

Electronic copy of poster submission deadline:
Wednesday, October 18th.

All posters should be on display by 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 24th and poster authors must be present by their poster between 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m.

Each poster will be allocated a 30” x 40” display area.

The poster should have large legible text and figures, and describe the results in a manner that would be clear to a reader in the author's absence.

  • Multiple scans of a sample can be stitched together.
  • Maximum geometric magnification 2000X (2D)/200X (3D)
  • Maximum sample weight 20kg.
  • 200 nm spot size
  • VGStudioMax II Reconstruction Software for post processing raw voxel data. 3D or cross section visualization, measurement and animation capabilities.
  • Easily exported to 3D printer compatible files.

Translucent 3D replicas of CT scanned lizard and frog

Preserved lizard and frog were scanned and post processed to create printable files for both the skeleton and soft tissue. Tissue was printed with clear material and skeleton with white material.

Dr. Luisa Amelia Dempere has been appointed as the Director of the Research Service Centers (RSCs) for the College of Engineering. In this role she will be responsible for the oversight of all operations of the service centers. The RSCs include the Major Analytical Instrumentation Center (MAIC), the Particle Analysis Instrumentation Center (PAIC), and the Nanoscale Research Facility (NRF).

The RSCs were present at the 2014 University, Government, Industry and Micro/Nano Technology (UGIM)Symposium. The goal of this symposium was to bring together leading educators and researchers from university, government, and industry around the world to discuss issues related to R&D cleanroom laboratories and trends therein. The UGIM symposium was head on the campus of Harvard University.
